ABOUT COUNSELLING / THERAPYWHAT IS COUNSELLING / THERAPY?
Counselling is a process of personal exploration, examining issues that are causing you difficulty in your life and relationships.
I would be working with you to help identify the roots of your particular difficulty and by increasing your self-awareness about those issues, this can help enable you to move on and flourish in your life.
Time limited counselling is offered when you may wish to attend for only a certain amount of sessions (say 10 to 12) in order to focus on a particular issue.
Longer term psychotherapy is offered if you wish to explore and work through deeper issues in a more timely and explorative way.
IS COUNSELLING / THERAPY FOR ME?
There are many who have experienced the benefits of counselling to help them with difficulties they are facing in life, as well as in dealing with experiences from their past, which may be impacting on the present.
We first of all meet for an initial meeting, which provides you with the opportunity to share and consider the issues you wish to bring to counselling and for the two of us to then consider whether or not counselling may be of benefit to you.
HOW LONG DOES A SESSION LAST?
A session lasts for 50 minutes to 1 hour.
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND EVERY WEEK?
Again, this can be discussed in more detail if you decide to meet for an initial meeting. Generally sessions will be on a regular weekly basis but sometimes fortnightly sessions are agreed where appropriate. However, weekly sessions are certainly recommended during the early stages of counselling.
HOW LONG WILL I BE IN COUNSELLING / THERAPY?
This is entirely up to you - as the process will be an an exploration of your personal experiences, you will wish to give thought and consideration to all of this. However, discussion around this, will also form part of the counselling process, where we will be able to consider together your progress and your thoughts and feelings about this.
