WHAT IS COUNSELLING?

Counselling is a journey of personal exploration, examining issues that are causing you difficulty in your life and relationships.

An experienced counsellor will work with you to help identify the roots of your particular difficulty and by increasing your self-awareness about those issues, help enable you to move on and flourish in your life.

IS COUNSELLING FOR ME?

There are many who have experienced the benefits of counselling to help them with difficulties they are facing in life, as well as in dealing with experiences from their past, which may be impacting on the present.

We start the counselling relationship with an initial assessment at which you will meet your counsellor, share and consider the issues you wish to bring to counselling and the two of you then consider whether or not counselling can be of benefit to you.

HOW LONG DOES A SESSION LAST?

For individual counselling a session lasts for one hour. However, with couple counselling it can sometimes be agreed that sessions will be for one and a half hours. This will be discussed and agreed at the initial assessment.

DO I HAVE TO ATTEND EVERY WEEK?

Again, this will be agreed at the initial assessment. Generally sessions will be on a regular weekly basis but sometimes fortnightly sessions are agreed where appropriate.

HOW LONG WILL I BE IN COUNSELLING?

This is for you to decide. Regular reviews with your counsellor will help you assess your progress in therapy.
