I provide a supportive and facilitative service and extend to all of my clients a genuine atmosphere of acceptance, where you will be encouraged and supported throughout and where the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my approach. I offer a safe and non-judgmental place within which you may explore and work through, in a manageable and timely way, things you are struggling with or troubled by.

My approach to counselling and therapy is predominantly Person-Centred and I respect and encourage your autonomy within the therapeutic process at all times, approaching things holistically, where attention is given to the whole person, (i.e. physical, emotional, spiritual, thoughts, experiences and perceptions), and where appropriate, drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches (such as Gestalt & TA, Psychodynamic and CBT/REBT), depending on your needs and requirements in therapy.

I am also able to help and support you if you wish to explore and gain deeper insight into aspects of your spiritual life, drawing on a well established and acknowledged integrative Christian model of counselling, which can form part of the therapeutic process if so desired by you.

Counselling is a process which can help in bringing about desired changes for you, your life and relationships. In time, a growing self-awareness may emerge, enabling you to see more clearly beliefs you may have been holding about yourself or patterns of behaviour you may have adopted, which have hindered you or created difficulties for you. By gaining deeper insight, understanding and self-acceptance, this can enable you to experience being more 'at the helm', with an increasing ability to make more informed and confident choices for your life and relationships.

Clients seek counselling for a wide variety of issues, including:

  • Negative thinking and low self-worth
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Stress and anger
  • Addictive behaviour
  • Loneliness
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Relationship issues
  • Spirituality

Both time limited and more open ended psychotherapy is available, depending on your requirements.

Time limited counselling is offered when you may wish to attend for only a certain amount of sessions (say 10 to 12) in order to focus on a particular issue.

Longer term psychotherapy is offered if you wish to explore and work through deeper issues in a more timely and explorative way.

Our first meeting will provide us with an opportunity to explore what you are looking for and for you to learn something of how I work and whether I could be of help to you. I would also want to learn more about you and what is troubling you.

Although most clients refer themselves for therapy, my work is also undertaken in conjunction with healthcare professionals, such as GPs, and some clients approach the service as a result of a recommendation or referral by other external agencies, churches and pastoral carers.

I adhere to the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) and British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework.
